This year’s Geneva motor show hasn’t been the supercar-fest that 2013 was, when LaFerrari and the production-ready McLaren P1 were unveiled, along with the Porsche 911 GT3 and Lamborghini Veneno. Still, with a potential candidate for world’s fastest car and promising concepts from Maserati and Alfa Romeo in attendance this year, you don’t have to look far for Geneva exotica. The New York Auto Show is the place where the World Car of the Year winner is announced, so with the show now underway comes the news that it’s the Audi A3 that’s grabbed the gong for the best car in the world in 2014. It’s the second time Audi has won the award – the Audi A6 won in 2005 – and probably holds up a mirror to the changing face of the world’s car landscape; more compact, ‘Premium’ cars are now the most favoured buy. But really, the Audi A3 isn’t just a single car.
The new Vauxhall Corsa ecoFLEX for 2010 with 98g/km CO2 emissions
As I think we’ve said before – another day, another Eco car. A few days a go we had the new BlueMotion Golf coming in at a chunk under it’s previous iteration on the CO2 emissions front, and today we’ve got Vauxhall’s baby being revealed for 2010 sporting CO2 emissions of 98g/km – which makes a change from the ubiquitous 99g/km figure. The new Corsa ecoFlex manages to trim the CO2 emissions from 105g/km on the previous Corsa ecoFLEX model to 98g/km – and therefore a freebie VED – with even the 5 door version sneaking below the 100g/km threshold.
